Twists And Turns

This puzzle is a type of acrostic. In terms of design, it resembles a continuous crossword, but there is no intersection. The square grid is divided up as a mosaic of self-contained pieces, one for each answer. The solutions are entered from the clue number in any direction, up, down, left or right. What makes the puzzle interesting is that, once all answers have been entered, alternate shaded rows across the grid spell a message.
